Hours of Work:   9:00am to 5:00pm (July 2 to August 16 2024 (35 hours per week, weekends and evenings as required)

Salary Range:     $16.55 per hour

The Museum of Lennox and Addington is seeking an enthusiastic Summer Museum Assistant.  The Museum Assistant will greet all visitors, provide tours and assist with the delivery of all programs and workshops. They will work at both museum sites - Macpherson House (1830s historic house) and the Museum of Lennox and Addington, both sites are operated by the county and are within walking distance. 

Responsibilities:

  • Greet visitors, conduct preservation housekeeping in galleries, and deliver tours as needed 
  • Assist in the development and delivery of all summer programs
  • Assist with cash handling, gift shop inventory, and presentation of retail spaces
  • Satisfactory attendance record, subject to the requirements of the Ontario Human Rights Code 

Education and Specific Training:

  • High school enrolment with an appreciation for local history and community
  • People oriented, enthusiastic and positive approach to all tasks is a must
  • Special consideration to those enrolled in a post-secondary education in related History, Museum Studies, or Education program
  • Parts of the Macpherson House and Museum are not fully accessibility. The ability to climb stairs and lift 15 lbs.+ in order to delivery tours and programs
  • Demonstrated familiarity with computer software and social media platforms
  • Requires an attention to detail and the ability to initiate tasks, be creative and work within a team
  • CPIC required
